Our Legacy
Founded in 1896 by Harry Inks, Ligonier Telephone Company, now LigTel, has always prioritized service and innovation. We remain a locally owned company, upholding the core principles established over a century ago.

service Expansion
In the mid-1990s, we began offering Long Distance Telephone Services and dial-up internet through LigTel Communications. We later introduced DSL and wireless high-speed internet services in several counties.
Reorganization and Growth
In 2015, we reorganized under Heartland Innovations, overseeing Ligonier Telephone Company, LigTel Communications, Inc., and Heartland Cellular, Inc. LigTel has expanded fiber optic high-speed internet throughout Noble County and parts of LaGrange County, supported by state grants in 2019 and 2022.
Technological Evolution
We’ve continually upgraded our technology to meet customer needs, from early switchboards to modern fiber optic networks. Since 2008, we’ve been working on bringing Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) to all locations in the Ligonier Exchange, aiming for 100% coverage by 2024.
